BlindSquare and MOIA

The ride-sharing service MOIA, which is already available in Hamburg and Hannover, can very easily be used in combination with BlindSquare. MOIA works with virtual stops, which can be found with the help of BlindSquare.

If you have MOIA as well as BlindSquare installed on your phone you can simply click on the pedestrian symbol in the ride overview and BlindSquare will show up as one of the navigation options. The acoustic navigation will start automatically and guide the user to the virtual stop.

MOIA vehicles are 100% electric, and the user shares a vehicle with up to five people going in the same direction. Guide dogs are also allowed in every vehicle.

MOIA can be used very easily. In the App you can book a ride. You will then be picked up at a virtual stop close by. The average walking distance is 200 metres. The app will let you know how much the ride will be prior to the start of the ride and you can pay via the app.

In the future MOIA plans to have fully autonomically operated vehicles. This is currently being tested in Hamburg.
